Age Concern Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan is a local independent charity, Registered Charity Number: 260189.
Vision
Our vision is to live in a society where older people are respected and enabled to meet their aspirations.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote quality of life of older people and to promote a positive view of ageing by fulfilling the following functions:
Services and support
Public education and advocacy
Innovation and research
Partnership and co-operation
Strategic Aims
To secure the commitment of people involved in the charity as trustees, staff and volunteers
To ensure the provision of relevant high quality services
To sustain and develop trust and confidence in the work of the charity
To develop partnership and co-operate with others
Memberships
Membership of the Charity is free of charge. It lasts for one year and is renewable every Autumn, in advance of the Annual General Meeting.
Full Membership
Full Membership with voting rights is open to:
Voluntary organisations
Government departments
Local Statutory Authorities
Any corporate or unincorporated association serving or operating in all or part of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan
Individual persons aged eighteen or over in sympathy with the object of the Charity and either living or working in either Cardiff or the Vale of Glamorgan
Associate Membership
Associate Membership carries all the benefits of Full membership except voting rights and obligations. It is available for bodies or individuals in sympathy with the objects of the Charity that do not meet the above criteria or simply do not wish to avail themselves of the vote.
Meetings
Annual General Meeting
The Charity will hold an Annual General Meeting each year.
The business of the Annual General Meeting will include the election of Chair and members of the Board of Trustees, the consideration of accounts, the appointment of the auditors, and receipt of the Trustees Report detailing the work of the Charity since the last meeting.
Informal General Meetings
The Charity arranges a number of less formal meetings for information exchange and networking, for example Seminars and Older Person’s Congress, to which Full and Associate Members are invited..
Benefits of Membership
The organisation believes members have a right to:
Be invited to meetings of the Charity.
Have voting rights at meetings.
Nominate and elect members of the Board of Trustees.
Receive advance copies of the Trustees Report and Annual Statements of Financial Activities.
Receive copies of all of the Charity’s publications.
Receive copies of the volunteer newsletter.
Receive mailings of the Charities Trust Fund Application Forms.
Be notified of the availability and criteria of grants from Age Concern for project work.
Obligations of Members
The organisation expects all Members to:
Support the vision, mission and aims of the organisation
Promote the work of the organisation
Respond to communications when invited to do so
Participate in meetings and events, where practical.
Notify us upon change of address or if unable to maintain membership for any reason
We also expect Full Members to:
Attend the Annual General Meeting
Utilise their voting powers to elect the Trustees of the Charity
We expect corporate Members to notify us immediately whenever they wish to change their nominated representative.
